Meet The Acre: A corner of positivity, joy and wellbeing

Welcome to The Acre, an inspired space that is set to be Covent Garden’s largest office development, with its design focused on bringing positivity, joy and wellbeing to the neighbourhood.

It goes without saying that how, and where, we work has changed greatly in recent years. When you can work from anywhere, the office becomes a question rather than a straightforward answer. If you’re spending a lot of your time there, shouldn’t the office be a place you look forward to? The Acre shifts the focus from the office being about work and focusing on tasks, to being about people and enabling a community of likeminded people. The new building will be an exciting mixed-use destination designed for the best talent, with plenty of ‘third-spaces’ and a wide-range of spaces for collaboration and creative exchange of ideas.

Originally designed and completed in the 1970’s by noted modernist architect, Richard Seifert, the building has been an iconic landmark in the heart of London’s West End for over half a century. Now Gensler, a renowned workplace design and architecture firm, has taken the mantle to make the building relevant to today’s needs. Thoughtfully designed and built to be human-centric, with sustainability high on the agenda, The Acre retrains over 80% of the original structure, saving 4850 tonnes of CO2. That’s the equivalent of the lifetime emissions of nearly 1000 UK citizens.

The 240,000 sq ft of workspaces are designed for positivity and wellbeing, with lots of natural light, great ventilation and temperature control as well as landscaped outdoor terraces offering inspiring views of London. At one city block, The Acre is a rare scale for Covent Garden and its central location and excellent transport connections. The redesign will create additional large flexible space perfect for all types of businesses – from big, established companies to start-ups who change how they work over time.

Covent Garden is a direct connection to the heart and soul of London. And being at The Acre means being near everything you would want and need for a successful day, with fast and convenient connections to everywhere else. Within the building itself, there will be 20,000 sq ft of amenity space and public realm. And right on your doorstep, you’ll have access to a huge variety of enriching and inspirational food, entertainment and culture. You’ll never run out of options for a casual lunch or that important business meeting again.

The Acre is the future of work, and it looks positive.
